Listening to Chopin’s
Waltz No. 1 in D flat major
I see a stampede of mice
racing on tiptoe
up the cupboard
across the counter
to the glorious sugar bowl
where they lick the crystals
to make a tiara
for the Queen.
The Queen places it on her head,
but later, in her mousy castle,
while the other mice lick their paws,
the Queen gobbles her crown
in one bite.
Yum.
Delicious!
3rd Prize – Nathalie Allen
Chopin
A genius
Adored by all who heard his music
Born in Poland, marveled by the whole world
His music - forever
